
Helen’s predominant area of practice is family law. This includes all aspects of the law relating to children in both public and private law and she regularly appears for local authorities, parents, other relatives, children able to give their own instructions and children’s guardians.
Helen is a member of the Public Regulatory team and, in particular, deals with issues relating to mental health law. As such, she appears in Mental Health Review Tribunals representing both local authorities and patients who are detained under the various provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983. She also has an interest in Court of Protection work.

Helen practices in the area of personal injury, representing both Claimants and Defendants, in an advisory and advocacy capacity.
Helen has experience in divorce proceedings, emergency injunctive relief applications and all aspects of finance and property disputes involving ancillary relief proceedings and disputes between unmarried couples.
Helen has experience in dealing with co-habitation disputes under the Trust of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996

Helen made a substantial contribution to Community Care Law and Local Authority Handbook (Jordans, March 2008) by way of legal research on all the topics contained within it, which complemented her own experience and expertise in the area and is also the contributing Editor of Mental Health Tribunals: Law Practice and Procedure.
