John read for an undergraduate Law Degree and a Post Graduate Master of Philosophy Degree at St John's College, Cambridge. Following pupillage in 1999 under (now His Honour Judge) Graham Platts he now specialises in personal injury and employment law.

Representation at Tribunal and EAT level for Claimants and Respondents in dismissal and discrimination claims. Commercial clients include both private enterprises and PLCs. Drafting work (e.g. contracts and procedures) also undertaken. John is regularly instructed in long, high value discrimination claims with high success rates, one example being an award of nearly £100,000 for a probation officer with depression who was overworked, unsupported and harassed (see Collingwood below). John regularly advises and appears at all stages of fast- and multi-track claims for both Claimants and Defendants in the County Court and the High Court. His practice covers all aspects of road traffic and workplace accidents, along with child and highways claims.

Earlier this year John successfully recovered £480,000 for an airline pilot whose ankle injuries forced him into early retirement. He is presently involved in a number of subtle brain injury claims for teenage and young adult Claimants. He regularly accepts instructions to attend round table settlement discussions around the country for Claimants and Defendants.
