PRACTICE
Kathryn is a civil and family practitioner who was previously employed as an in-house barrister with a large firm of solicitors.
Her civil and commercial experience encompasses: debt recovery and insolvency; contract; consumer credit; civil procedure; and property, including mortgage possession/ shortfall, landlord and tenant, housing and neighbour and building disputes. She was appointed to the Attorney General’s panel as Junior Counsel to the Crown in 2010.
In the field of personal injury she deals with road traffic, accidents at work, occupiers’ liability and tripping cases. She is a member of PIBA.
Kathryn’s family practice includes both Children Act (public and private law) and ancillary relief matters. She teaches family law to social workers and CAFCASS professionals at the University of Sheffield.
Kathryn undertakes advocacy and written work and has a public access licence. She has taken part in a number of Chambers presentations across the civil and family spectrum. She also assists with matters for the Bar Pro Bono Unit.

Hammonds solicitors - Kathryn was the first person in England and Wales to complete a 12-month employed pupillage.
PERSONAL
Outside Chambers, Kathryn enjoys: spending time with her 3 children; football – she plays 5-a-side and supports Barnsley FC; swimming and walking (although not both at the same time!); music; and reading, especially historical fiction. She is a trustee of Grace Tebbutt House, a charity assisting homeless and vulnerable women in Sheffield.

- Kathryn can accept instructions directly from the public in certain circumstances. She undertakes both written work and advocacy and can provide an initial overview of papers or a short conference to discuss the particular needs of the client and matter concerned before costs are incurred.
- Examples include: written advice or conferences; drafting particulars of claim or defences; assisting with negotiation and the drafting of witness statements; advocacy on a one-off or continuing basis.
- Kathryn accepts direct access work across all areas of her practice and has recently undertaken neighbour disputes, landlord and tenant cases, contract/ debt recovery matters, ancillary relief/ partnership disputes and general civil procedure matters.
