Louise is an established employment practitioner who is recognised for her advocacy skills in all leading legal directories. She has been marked out as “one to watch” from an early stage and has developed into a capable employment lawyer.

Employment

Louise regularly acts for a number of local and public authorities and is experienced in dealing with the particular challenges presented by public authority work. She is also regularly retained by Trade Unions.

Louise is currently recognised in Legal 500 (2012) as a leading junior in the North West and has been described by Chambers and Partners (2012) "incredibly efficient and “one to watch”. “She handles a wide array of employment disputes, from discrimination cases to equal pay claims and restrictive covenants”.

Recent experience includes:

Mills v Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation Trust: successfully established “lack of capacity” to resign and a failure to make reasonable adjustments in a disability discrimination claim where the Claimant suffered from psychosis.

O’Donnell v Greater Manchester Police. Successfully represented the Respondent in a claim where the Claimant was asserting a sham redundancy.

Hackney v Stockport Borough Council. Successfully represented the Respondent in a complex redundancy claim involving issues as to the definition of redundancy and reorganisation.

Tiplady v Copeland Borough Council. Successfully represented the Claimant in a multi-day trial concerning age discrimination in the context of pension entitlements and unfair dismissal.

Osuji v Isand Ltd. One of the many cases in which Louise has successfully represented Respondent’s within the care sector. The Claimant alleged race discrimination and unfair dismissal. Issues arose as to the reasonableness of the employer’s reliance on evidence from mentally ill/vulnerable service users and safeguarding practices.
