Mark specialises in criminal advocacy with his practice divided between Prosecution and Defence. He is a Grade 4 Prosecutor and is on the Wales and Chester Panel for rape and serious sexual offences.

Mark’s experience covers a broad spectrum of criminal offences including murder, serious offences of violence, large scale public disorder including football related violence, robbery, firearms, death by dangerous driving, serious sexual offences including, rape, historical cases and the possession, taking and distribution of indecent images of children, domestic violence, drug trafficking, POCA applications, money laundering and fraud including benefit fraud.

Mark has particular experience in dealing with young and vulnerable defendants and witnesses in the context of serious sexual offences.

R v E (2006) successful prosecution of a 15 year-old boy for the rape of a 12 year-old girl with learning difficulties. Successfully defended abuse of Process argument dealing the CPS’s decision to prosecute.

R v Williams (2005) successful prosecution involving the taking of and possession of indecent images of children and the repeated rape and sexual abuse of a child.

Operation Notch (2003), a 30-handed drugs case, “Operation Notch was, according to Cheshire police, their largest ever drugs Investigation” (described in CPS Cheshire Annual Report 2003-2004).
