NATURE OF PRACTICE:
Patrick specialises in crime, both defence and prosecution, in particular serious and high profile cases. Patrick also has considerable experience of regulatory work and in particular RSPCA, trading standards, environmental health and work for and against various County Councils and regulatory bodies. Patrick has also undertaken a great deal of work for the Police Federation and numerous police forces.

Noteworthy Cases
R v Stephen Russell, Richard Kelsall & Peter Lightfoot [2010] – successful defence of police sergeant alleged to have repeatedly assaulted an off-duty soldier. CCTV evidence.
R v Jordan Andrews [2010] – Murder defence in Chester City Centre.
R v Christopher Bowyer [2009] – Murder defence. Murder of an elderly resident of a old person’s care home, by carer setting firm to the premises.
R v Bailey & Another [2006] – Defending murder case involving only the second prosecution of a man who had already served a 5 year sentence for GBH. Following the death of the victim 7 years after the offence (double jeopardy).
R v Pilling [2002] – defending a Scout District Commissioner against allegations of raping 3 boy scouts.
R v Landregan [2002] – historical sexual abuse
R v White [2002] – historical sexual abuse

R v Aslam [ 2011] Defending environmental health prosecution of operator of Lays Fish Bar Wrexham following Ecoli outbreak, which directly infected and hospitalised 5 members of the public.
Re: Sergeant JM [2011] – Police Appeals Tribunal following demotion of officer (Merseyside Police).
Re: Inspector PB & Ors [2007] – Successful defence of the senior officer where 7 officers faced allegations of serious assault.
RSPCA v Foster [2008] – Several successful prosecutions of horse trader who persistently mistreated the animals and failed to comply with Court orders.
Lancaster County Council v Fats & Protein UK – Environmental prosecution following persistent odour emissions from an animal rendering plant in the Lancaster area.
